The new 5000 square foot facility
will open in early 2008. Ballroom dancing at the very finest
will be available in Forest. Donna
Barringer Neighbors, along with her husband Steve Neighbors have
finally gotten the new facility under construction. After a
number of years in the planning process the ground was broken during
the summer of 2007. The new facility is located just off the
corner of 221 and 811.
In the Beginning...the
excavation work was initiated by Charlie Padgett.
Padgett also
constructed the new entrance into the VaDance Studio off Thomas
Jefferson Road (811).
The slab related work was completed in
mid-October 2007. The work was done by James Garner owner of
Milo & Otis, Inc. and various flat concrete contarctors.
The slab,
the footers and wall was done by Milo & Otis.
The
retaining wall and brick work is being done by Juan Puente and his
crew.
The rough
plumbing work was done by Jim Quattelbaum of Mr. Roter.
Todd is clearing the way for the pipes and water lines.
Walls
begin going up at the end of October.
Katherine Barringer
is holding an Arxx Wall Form above. The forms are 48"
across, 16 3/4" high and will hold 6" of concrete. The
first course is laid by Greg below.
(Arxx
ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) walls are constructed by Greg
Ramano of Appomattox.
ICF walls are selected by Steve and Donna as an
innovative and "green" building product. After a great
deal of research the Arxx Walls becomes the winner and Greg
Ramano of Appomattox is brought into the team. Ramano is
the foremost athority on this form of construction and is the
dealer for Arxx.
The ICF Walls are completed November 20th
and the roof framing begins.
Russ Burnette frames the interior
building, puts in the subfloors for the upstairs and does the
roofing. He begins mid-November.
Timber Truss built the roof trusses that
Russ Burnette and his crew put up. Below is the roof going
over the Ballroom portion of the building. The Ballroom
area is about 3200 square feet of open space.
2008 - New Studio
The addition of a
5,000 square foot dance and office space is in the works and will open in 2008. The
new facility will also incorporate massage services and movement
classes.
